All well and good if you have access to Pam-5C.

I'm assuming as a cadet, he doesnt, hence the posts.

Ok, Ok, I was just posting what I got shown.
It wasn't meant to have something if the magazine was in, because I do not know it.
It was not aimed towards people like you, who know exactly what they are doing.

Not all people are taught exactly the same thing, like the forward assist, it doesn't matter EXACTLY how many taps you do, as long as it does the job. I do two, some do one - Why be so picky?

It is not meant as something for an AI to read off to his spongey minded cadets, it is for the cadets to revise from if they need to.

Thanks for taking the time to read it, anyway guys

Unless his detachment AIs are utter tools (who think they are SAS and everything is 'need to know') they will let him read the PAM 5c if he wishes.

Toby i think that you have taken the answer to your post the wrong way, no one is criticising you for trying to offer advice, however if its on a topic such as weapon drills, advice aimed at cadets who do not know the drills could lead to them getting the drills wrong and even worse possible an accident.
I hope you are not in anyway put off posting in future because even if mr frimley park himself posted incorrect weapon drills on here others would be quick to question and correct.

Hmm, I am not sure if anybody said this..?

Go back to your detachment commander, 'Excuse me Boss.. I need help with the NSPs. I am not too sure what to do, can we have a lesson on them please? Or can you take me through them. Thanks'

Bob's your uncle. .. We could tell you as much as we want on here, and it will do no good. You need to be shown and trained. Don't be scared to ask your DC or senior cadets?

i managed to get a skill in my SAA A1 which took a lot of reading through the manual only to be told that for my SCIC i need to teach with the A2! down south we still haven't been issued them yet, so... although i shall tell them that i have no prior experience using the A2, i was wondering what a forward assist is? i'm not dumb just never had to do it. anyone help?

After you have cocked the weapon you tap forward on the cocking handle, generally with the heal/little finger of your hand. Looks like a karate chop with the left hand over the top of the weapon.

OK I feel that he has been hard done by by some here,so it's best to post it as it HAS to be done as per the Pam5 C

[MOD EDIT]
PAM 5C cannot be posted here and could land various people in hot water.
[/MOD EDIT]

At no point does it mention "Forward Assist" whilst conducting NSP'S,as it is not required for this drill(although should still be taught so as not to make any mistakes when it is required for other drills) and, just for added measure it does not require "a sweep under the mag housing,or lowering of the sights"

This should make things more clear for any cadets that need clarification on the matter of NSP's and know the correct way of carrying out the drill correctly

some good points, it's worth noting that when carrying out the NSP only a 3 point check is done (face of the bolt, body, chamber). The 7 checks are only carried out on the unload and makesafe drills

Also, as previously mentioned Pam5C doesn't require a forward assist/tap forward on the NSP; however I think it's good practice for cadets to forward assist on every drill, that way it shouldn't then be forgotten.

Agreed on magazine chops/sweeps, hate that let's get rid of it.

For some reason the WHT L98A2 Cadet GP Rifle or L86A2 LSW is not in pam 5C, Pam 21C refers to the L86A2.

I'm at Frimley on a Tgt rifle cse in Mar so I will ask the chief instructor from the SASC the 'Q'.

yeah I think they're in the process of updating Pam21C to include the tests in there (I may be wrong though). Let us know what you find out?

I have a copy of the official test I got at Frimley in Nov in paper format, I keep it in my Pam5C and could probably get it scanned
