Our APC in the CCF is slightly different to that of the ACF, but we do pretty much the same stuff.

I love doing drill, I can't really put my finger on the exact reason why, but I love the satisfaction you get when you get a drill movement right, or when you have the whole contingent doing perfect drill.

I'm not so keen on taking it yet, as my drill voice is pretty rubbish, and I feel very self-consious standing in front of a squad of my friends, but I'm sure with time and practice this will improve.

I love all of them, and the only one that i wouldn't spend 5 hours doing each day would be cadet in the community, because I have had absolutely no experience of that what so ever.
But I am expecting to enjoy it a lot when we do it

I haven't voted, because I love teaching them all!

The challenge for me is to find a subject that Cadets traditionally think is boring, and I find a way to make it fun. That is my mission and the main effort of all my TPs.

I've made Cadets drill to a Band to get them into it, or if I couldn't get a band, an I-Pod is just as good to get them in the swing of things. I've made Cadets do First Aid under fire to put them under pressure as a test at the end of First Aid. I've hidden prizes at the end of Map and Compass lessons and run Shooting Competitions with different weapons, ranges and targetry. I've even tried to make Cadet in the Community fun by arranging rides in RMP and MOD Police cars with the blues and twos going.

All APC subjects can become firm favorites - IF they are taught right!

Unimaginative training really annoys me!!!

A mixture of practical map & compass, fieldcraft, skill at arms and shooting. That is what sets us apart from other youth organisations. It is all about getting out on the ground with a weapon in your hand, engaging with and destroying the enemy!

First aid is possibly the most relalistic thing that can be done in the ACF.

I put drill but I like most of them equally. I probably like drill, skill at arms and first aid the most.

I would agree with that JohnG, whilst you may use the skills very rarely, you never know when, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, there can be an accident, or someone can become frighteningly ill.

You never know when you will need to strip an LSW down either ;-) .. I bet you can't give me one example.. Therefore you never know :P

Nah First Aid of course is probably the most important and useful qualification you will obtain from the Army Cadet Force. People may argue about it being the most important, but so what if you can go away from cadets doing drill.. What are you going to do, march round town doing weapon drill on your shopping bags?

You never know when first aid will pop up, as an example me and Drill Pig driving down to Northallerton when there was a car crash, we got out took over the scene until the emergency services came, Drilly attended to the casualty I directed traffic. Drilly managed to do what he does best, being right.. And done all what he needed for the paramedics and when they came, they just got straight into it as Drilly done the first bit for them, because he knew his First Aid.

So regardless of what anybody else says, I think it is the most important. Even if you do not get qualified just knowing it.
